The Twin

Photobucket

Hello Everbody!
I'm gonna dedicate this blog to Prenin, because i promised him that I would tell him this story one day...
This is actually two stories rolled into one, but I promise to try and keep it brief <ahem> Open-mouthed

The first story is about 'the twin' and the second story is about the day that me and some friends went 'a haunting'
oh there's a third story about a dream that i had....i proomise to get to the points quick! Tongue out

I have an aunt, who now has alzheimers. I discovered that (until very recently)
anytime we met, at family get-togethers, she always remembered and recognised me from a hundred paces. One time as we entered a church for a funeral, my husband saw her desperatly trying to get my attention by waving to me. I always felt thrilled that she  could still recall who i was.
however...
every time we met, she always took my hands in a fierce grip, while saying to me "you are the 'twin'!"  Surprised
I really didn't think too much of it to be honest, as one of her daughters is the exact same age as me...5 days separating us.  I thought it was a reference to us as babies..perhaps appearing to look like twins?
anyhooooo
a few weeks ago now, i was talking to a friend who lives near me, and she mentioned a local shortcut, connecting our neighbourhood with another one via a riverside walkway.
This is a route that a gal or guy(?) wouldn't dream of walking on alone at night..it's extremely secluded. But i always hankered after seeing it in the dark. So this friend says to me..."did you know that the walkway is haunted?" Surprised
"no oooooooo!"  I replied. I googled for information and sure enough a story appeared, It claims that the walkway is haunted by a female ghost who appears out of the gloom riding a bycycle...she has a very sad face, she rides past and then she vanishes!  ooer...
My friend told me that quite a few members of her family were going to do a late night stroll along the walkway, to do a spot of ghost hunting! Before I could control my tongue i shrieked "Can I COME???"  Thank God she said 'yes'  LMAO!

So comes the day and comes the hour...we all met up, and made our way to the entrance of  the walkway!  Were we nervous?   HELL YEAH!!!!!!!
Anyway...in we goes...all the kids (yeah we took the kids with us for safety Embarrassed ) all the kids had their camera phones held aloft  looking to capture an image of a ghostie!
My friend's Sister took a photograph of me..using a digital camera, and look what appeared on the image!!!
(not the little one...the one on the other side of me)

Ok. I wasn't bothered at first, but my friend said that it looked like a second image of  ME!!!   wtf?  Surprised
I admit that my mind went into overdrive then.."what if i had been a twin? what if my mum had miscarried -maybe she didnt know-? There are a few sets of twins in the history of my mum's side of the family, including some miscarrying One twin.
I pondered on this for a long time..."so why did my aunt always refer to me as "the twin" eh?  Thinking
It was working on my sub-conscious so much so, that I ended up having a dream -seee? these strands are coming together  LOL

In the dream I was walking with my mother and I suddenly remembered that I had a question to ask her-so I did!  "Mum why does my aunt always refer to me as 'the twin'?
My mum replied, that when me and my brother and sister and all our cousins were kids, each seperate family unit were referred or known by 'nicknames'  My maiden surname rhymes with 'twin'  and my mum said that our family  were collectively known as 'the twins'
hmmmmmm
I think that i preferred my version, that i was in fact a twin..so I had to find
out.
I spoke to my mum on the telephone and I asked her.. "Mum  am I a twin?"
My Mum-  "Eh?"
I said to her, i'm really sorry for asking you this, but i need to know...My aunt always refers to me as 'the twin'  so is it possible that I was a twin?"

DO YOU KNOW WHAT MY MUM SAID?????

"I'm not sure.."
WTF???
i said (weakly) "so I might be" and my mum said "no I don't think you were.."

well that all sounds pretty conclusive..innit?  Confused

p.s The stroll on the walkway was great fun,

we even got to see a cyclist, everybody was
thrilled cos they thought he was a ghost- except for me...I recognised him.  Oh well!  Wink

I Don't Think That This Applys To Scotland...

Hello Everybody...
I'm not sure what the weather is like down your way, but here in Scotland, we are still waiting for spring.
I am still loving Tom Waits. This is a beautiful song, but like i say, I'm sure that Bonny Scotland would perhaps make an exception to the sentinment expressed!...Enjoy!  Smile

The Piano Has Been Drinking...

...not me.

Hello Everybody.

This blog is primarly a nod to the blog of one of my friends, kallisti where she addressed the issue of 'alcahol consumption.
it's well worth reading...
also i should mention you phil, who reminded me of the talented Tom Waits...
Anyway..it got me thinking kallisti. Some people can be very entertaining whilst drunk, Years ago I used to work with one old guy, and at work do's -  after he'd had a few, all he wanted to do was SING!- all of the old songs and he was always looking for a singing partner. -oh he loved me because usually I was the only other person who knew all of the words!  <ahem> Wink

However others, are not entertaining!-in fact, far far from it. Sad
And then of course some people blame their hangovers/upset stomachs/blinding headaches, on anything, rather than the real culprit, which is of course their alcahol consumption.
"oh yeah i was sooo sick last night, it must have been that half baked snack i ate before i went to bed!"
Anyway thank you kallisti for your timely blog.. i am trying to reduce my alchahol consumption, I would like to thank my Husband for all his love and support in this.
I honestly don't think that there's quite enough alcahol awareness around at the moment.
And thank you too Phil, for reminding me of a great performer.
It wasn't me guv who was drinking...it was the Piano!  Surprised
